Santa Fe Railroad Passenger Train Brakeman summer hat. This hat has the less common vented brow line. No moth holes in the hat. Some minor scuffs in the bill but, no cracks. The Badge has some scratches and enamel loss. The enamel loss in the Logo circle, the vertical stripes and below the K & E, above that is what looks like a V connecting to the chipped enamel(see pic 5). This may have been his Initial marking the ownership of his hat or it could also be a V inserted by one of his fellow railroaders which would spell Braveman. Perhaps alluding to the ability of the engineer on his crew. To ride with him you had to be a Brave man. Some of those old (born in the Great Depression Era) passenger train engineers worked till they could no longer climb the ladder to get in the cab. I'm sure it's just a joke? Anyway, the hat is in good condition overall. I can fill in were the blue enamel is missing with a felt tip marker and blend it in were you will have to get a magnifier out to find it, but we make an honest effort to describe each item fairly.
